So, are you familiar with the precautions for operating an industrial aluminum extrusion press ?

 

First, check the industrial aluminum extrusion press for oil leaks in the hydraulic system and whether the air pressure is normal; simultaneously, check auxiliary devices such as conveyor belts, cooling beds, and material storage tables for damage or scratches that may affect the profile. This is fundamental to ensuring the surface quality of the aluminum profiles.

 

Second, confirm the clamping method according to the shape of the aluminum profile. For large-section hollow profiles, stretching pads can be inserted, but sufficient clamping area should be ensured as much as possible. Before stretching, confirm the length of the aluminum profile, then determine the stretching rate, and confirm the stretching length.

 

Generally, aluminum profiles can be stretched using an industrial aluminum extrusion press only when they cool down to 50℃ or below; when profiles have both bending and twisting, the twisting should be corrected first, then the bending, and the profile should be restored to a good condition before further processing.

 

For industrial aluminum extrusion presses, the first two aluminum profiles are test pulls, aiming to confirm whether the predetermined stretching rate and clamping method are suitable. Simultaneously, visual inspection for bending, twisting, checking the planar gap, flaring, and jointing of the profiles is necessary; if unsuitable, the stretching rate should be adjusted accordingly.

 

If bending or twisting cannot be eliminated, or the geometric dimensions cannot meet the standards under normal stretching rate, the operator should be notified to stop the extrusion of the industrial aluminum extrusion press. This can further improve the processing quality. Profiles on the cooling bed should not rub, collide, or overlap, preventing scratches.

When selecting extrusion press equipment, in addition to considering the thermal effects of extrusion speed on extruded metal, the press should also have sufficient rigidity and guiding accuracy, and a reliable overload protection device should be set. When using friction presses for extrusion, due to the different guiding accuracy of the equipment, guiding devices need to be installed on the mold. For friction presses without ejectors, lifting devices should also be added. When using universal crank presses, in order to improve the strength and rigidity of the equipment, the worktable bottom plate should use cast steel parts, and the holes on the worktable should be reduced. Because the parts remain in the mold after extrusion, the tension between the extruded part and the mold is large, and the required ejection amount is large, about 10%-20% of the nominal pressure. Therefore, the pressure setting value ejection device should be strengthened. In addition, the extrusion pressure and stroke should be checked according to the load curve allowed by the press slide block. That is, within the entire extrusion stroke range, the extrusion pressure should be less than the limit value of the stroke pressure curve allowed by the press, and cannot be determined according to the nominal pressure.
