For metals with high viscosity, tool adhesion is easy to occur, making it difficult to form a complete residual skin. In this case, within the allowable range of metal heating temperature, try to lower the extrusion temperature or enhance the cooling of the extrusion pads to avoid adhesion and facilitate the formation of a complete skin.

 

To obtain a uniform and complete skin, the extrusion pads should have smooth edges as much as possible, so that the pads can automatically align with the center of the billet during extrusion. However, the round corners of the pads should not be too large to avoid difficulties in separating the pads. When using peeling extrusion, a larger extrusion force is required; generally, it is more difficult to produce certain products on small-tonnage extrusion machines.

Extrusion press equipment is becoming increasingly popular in enterprises. When selecting extrusion press equipment, in addition to considering the thermal effects of extrusion speed on extruded metal, the press should also have sufficient rigidity and guiding accuracy, and a reliable overload protection device should be set. When using friction presses for extrusion, due to the different guiding accuracy of the equipment, guiding devices need to be installed on the mold. For friction presses without ejectors, lifting devices should also be added. When using universal crank presses, in order to improve the strength and rigidity of the equipment, the worktable bottom plate should use cast steel parts, and the holes on the worktable should be reduced. Because the parts remain in the mold after extrusion, the tension between the extruded part and the mold is large, and the required ejection amount is large, about 10%-20% of the nominal pressure. Therefore, the pressure setting value ejection device should be strengthened. In addition, the extrusion pressure and stroke should be checked according to the load curve allowed by the press slide block. That is, within the entire extrusion stroke range, the extrusion pressure should be less than the limit value of the stroke pressure curve allowed by the press, and cannot be determined according to the nominal pressure.
