How does an extruder ensure that the interface is flat and the extruded material is cleanly cut?

When extruding alloy materials, especially zinc-tin alloy materials, uneven interfaces in the extruder can cause metal material wrapping at the joints between rods. This wrapping can affect subsequent processing and severely impact the final product. So how to solve this problem?

 

First, equip the extruder with a head cutting machine to cut the head of each cast rod. This ensures a level interface, reducing wrapping. Second, set the die temperature higher than that of the tin-soldering die.

 

Additionally, the extruder can control the working pressure through the die, the outlet method, and the wire diameter. Adjusting the appropriate outlet speed can solve the problem of uneven interfaces. Due to the redesigned extrusion wheel, the structure can be quickly replaced, the assembly and replacement of the extrusion wheel are convenient, and the maintenance time is shortened; the radial and axial directions of the extrusion die adopt a bidirectional fine-tuning device, making die replacement quick and allowing precise fine-tuning of the movement gap between the extrusion wheel and the die, thus improving the service life of the die.

 

Furthermore, the extruder usually has a molding plate with various shaped holes at the end of the screw sleeve. It can not only mold the extruded material into the required shape but also act as a flow restrictor to increase the pressure in the aging zone of the extruder. However, it is important to note that the geometric shape of the die hole plays a crucial role in the shape and quality of the extruded product.

 

After molding, the extruded material must be equipped with a cutting mechanism to cut the molded material into products of the specified length with a neat surface. Normally, the length of the cut material depends on the cutting knife speed; the faster the cutting knife speed, the shorter the cut material length. The neatness of the cut material largely depends on the gap distance between the cutting knife and the die.

When selecting extrusion press equipment, in addition to considering the thermal effects of extrusion speed on extruded metal, the press should also have sufficient rigidity and guiding accuracy, and a reliable overload protection device should be set. When using friction presses for extrusion, due to the different guiding accuracy of the equipment, guiding devices need to be installed on the mold. For friction presses without ejectors, lifting devices should also be added. When using universal crank presses, in order to improve the strength and rigidity of the equipment, the worktable bottom plate should use cast steel parts, and the holes on the worktable should be reduced. Because the parts remain in the mold after extrusion, the tension between the extruded part and the mold is large, and the required ejection amount is large, about 10%-20% of the nominal pressure. Therefore, the pressure setting value ejection device should be strengthened. In addition, the extrusion pressure and stroke should be checked according to the load curve allowed by the press slide block. That is, within the entire extrusion stroke range, the extrusion pressure should be less than the limit value of the stroke pressure curve allowed by the press, and cannot be determined according to the nominal pressure.
